Overview

SPI Inspections Inc. is a full-service inspection and field services company specializing in the power and industrial sectors. We are currently seeking experienced Electrical / Instrumentation QA/QC Inspectors to join a high-performance team supporting a major industrial project in the Squamish, BC area.

This is a professional QA/QC inspection role focused on compliance, verification, and documentation. The successful candidate will help ensure electrical and instrumentation installations meet the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), project specifications, and quality standards.

This role is inspection-focused and involves minimal physical labour compared to traditional industrial construction positions. It is ideal for individuals with strong technical backgrounds who take pride in quality, accuracy, and professionalism.

Important: This position is intended for experienced industrial electricians or instrumentation technicians with QA/QC, inspection, commissioning, or pre-commissioning experience. This is not an entry-level role and is not suitable for residential electricians, commercial-only electricians, IT technicians, electronics technicians, or general automation technician roles.

This role is best suited for experienced industrial electricians or instrumentation technicians who are looking to move into or continue in a QA/QC, inspection, or commissioning-focused career path.

Rotation & Schedule

  • 14 days on / 13 days off rotation
  • 12-hour shifts during active rotation
  • Structured shift work including weekends and overtime
  • Full-time term / contract position with immediate start preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of electrical and instrumentation installations to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards
  • Review drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation to support inspection activities
  • Verify materials, components, and completed work meet quality requirements
  • Interpret and apply the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) to field installations
  • Identify deficiencies, document findings, and support corrective actions
  • Prepare clear, accurate inspection reports, QA/QC documentation, and turnover support records
  • Coordinate with construction and project teams to maintain quality standards
  • Support commissioning, testing, and QA/QC processes as required

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), including the ability to interpret and apply code requirements to field installations (mandatory)
  • Experience verifying electrical installations against CEC requirements and identifying deficiencies
  • Journeyman Electrician or Instrumentation Technician
  • Or equivalent experience in electrical and instrumentation QA/QC inspection
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant industrial experience
  • Direct experience in QA/QC, inspection, commissioning, or pre-commissioning environments
  • Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and specifications
  • Experience in industrial, energy, LNG, power, or large-scale construction environments is preferred
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to quality
  • Comfortable using a company-provided computer for reporting and records
  • Experience transitioning from construction into QA/QC, inspection, or commissioning roles is considered an asset

Additional Screening Criteria

  • Experience supporting CSA or Canadian compliance requirements is considered a strong asset
  • Experience with deficiency tracking, punch lists, turnover packages, or inspection reports is preferred
  • Experience working in a structured, documentation-driven industrial environment is preferred

Site Requirements

  • Must be able to meet site access requirements
  • Must pass drug and alcohol testing
  • Must be comfortable working in a structured camp-based rotational environment
  • CSTS 2020 (or equivalent) is required prior to site access; candidates may obtain it before mobilization if not currently held

Transportation

Transportation is provided from the ferry terminal to the project site. Candidates are responsible for arranging travel to the terminal.

  • Free terminal parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis
  • In certain cases, travel support such as cab reimbursement or airfare may be provided depending on location and circumstances
